What is janie lou gibbs?

Janie Lou Gibbs was an American serial killer who was convicted of murdering three of her five children in Georgia between 1966 and 1967. She was born on November 23, 1932, in Cordele, Georgia, and raised in a strict religious household.

Gibbs's first murder was of her son, Robert Lee "Bobbie" Gibbs, in 1966. She then went on to kill two of her other children, Melvin William (Billy) Gibbs and Jannett Sue Gibbs, the following year. Her motive for the murders was believed to be financial gain, as she was able to collect life insurance policies on her children.

In 1967, Gibbs was arrested and charged with the murders of her three children. She confessed to killing them, claiming that she did it to protect them from what she believed was a bleak future. She was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Janie Lou Gibbs died in prison on February 7, 2010, at the age of 77. Her case remains one of the most notorious instances of maternal filicide in American history.
